The Extra Aircraft company was established in 1980 as Extra Flugzeugbau in Germany by Walter Extra, an aerobatic pilot, to design and develop his own aerobatic aircraft. The company is located at Dinslaken airfield in Hünxe, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Extra EA-300

Two-seat aerobatic aircraft with composite fuselage over steel frame construction. It was designed in 1987 by Walter Extra, a German aerobatic pilot, and built by Extra Flugzeugbau. The first two-seat Extra 300 made its maiden flight on 6 May 1988, with German type certification following on 16 May 1990. The single-seat Extra 300S flew on 4 March 1992.
Some variants are 300 (two-seat), 300S (single-seat), 300L (two-seat, low-mounted wing), 300LT (two-seat, low-mounted wing, adapted for touring).

Extra EA-400

The Extra EA-400 is a six-seat single-engined monoplane, powered by a liquid cooled Continental Voyager turbocharged piston engine. The cross-country airplane has many exclusive features including carbon fiber construction, pressurized cabin, cantilevered high wing and seating for six. Despite the capabilities of the airplane, its $1 million cost and a weak market meant slow sales.
