The French aircraft manufacturer Société Alpavia was founded by the Belgian Comte d'Assche at the airfield of Gap-Tallard in the French Alps in 1957. The company was closed in 1966 after which the production of several light aircraft types designed by René Fournier was taken over by Sportavia-Pützer.
Fournier RF-3
René Fournier designed motor-gliders: the Fournier RF-1 (first flown 6 July 1960, produced by Centre Est Aéronautique of Pierre Robin), the Fournier RF-2 (first flown on 26 May 1962, produced by Centre Est Aéronautique of Pierre Robin) and the Fournier RF-3 (single-seat, first flown 6 March 1963, getting type certificate on 7 June 1963).
Fournier and the Comte d'Assche agreed to to produce the RF-3 by Société Alpavia and the first aircraft was delivered in November 1963. When the company closed its doors in 1966, 88 RF-3s (c/n 01 to 88) had been produced.
