Diamond / HOAC
Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH is a Chinese-owned manufacturer of general aviation aircraft and motor gliders, based in Austria. It is the third largest manufacturer of aircraft for the general aviation sector, and has a global presence by possessing its own manufacturing facilities in Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria and in London, Ontario, Canada, as well as further production lines operated as joint ventures in other nations, such as China.
The company was founded in 1981 as Hoffmann Flugzeugbau by Wolf Hoffmann in Friesach, Carinthia, to produce the H36 Dimona all-composite motor glider.
Becoming a subsidiary of Simmering-Graz-Pauker AG (Austrian machine and engine factory) as Hoffman Aircraft Limited in 1985, the company moved its headquarters to Vienna. In 1987 the company moved its factory to Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria. It started development of the HK36R Super Dimona, a Rotax 912 powered motorglider, which received Bundesamt für Zivilluftfahrt approval on 6 September 1990 and US FAA type approval on 23 July 1993.
In 1991 the company was purchased by the Dries family and renamed HOAC AG. To supply the North American market more directly, a second manufacturing facility was opened in London, Ontario, Canada in 1992. This used the name Dimona Aircraft until the name was changed to Diamond Aircraft in 1996. In 1998 HOAC was renamed Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH to better fit the North American naming.
Diamond was acquired by the Chinese company Wanfeng Aviation in December 2017.

Diamond DV20 Katana
The DV20/DA20 Katana is a two-seat tricycle gear general aviation light aircraft. It was originally produced in Austria as the DV20 and shares many features from the earlier HK36R Super Dimona. It was introduced to service during 1993. During the 1990s, production of the type was commenced at a new facility in Canada and designated as DA20.

Diamond DA40 Star
The Diamond DA40 Star is a four-seat, single engine, light aircraft constructed from composite materials. Built in both Austria and Canada, it was developed as a four-seat version of the earlier DV20/DA20. The variant DA40 D is the diesel model.

Diamond DA42 Twin Star
The DA42 Twin Star is a four seat, twin engine, propeller-driven airplane. It was Diamond's first twin engine design. During 2004, the DA42 became the first diesel-powered fixed-wing aircraft to perform a non-stop crossing of the North Atlantic.

Diamond HK36 Super Dimona
The Diamond HK36 Super Dimona is an extensive family of Austrian low-wing, T-tailed, two-seat motor gliders designed by Wolf Hoffmann and currently produced by Diamond Aircraft Industries.
