Malaysia Airlines Berhad, formerly known as Malaysian Airline System Berhad, is the flag carrier of Malaysia and is a major airline operating flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and from secondary hubs in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching to destinations throughout Asia, Oceania and Europe.
In 1947, the airline began as Malayan Airways, being renamed Malaysian Airways after Malaysia gained independence. After that, it changed its name once more to Malaysia-Singapore Airlines. It ceased operations in 1972, and two airlines were born: Malaysian Airline System and Singapore Airlines.
Member of Oneworld since 1 February 2013. Member of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA).
