China Southern Airlines Company Limited is an airline headquartered in Baiyun District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. Its main hubs are Beijing Capital International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. The airlines's logo is a red kapok flower on a blue vertical tail fin.
China Southern Airlines was established on 1 July 1988 as a result of the Chinese government's decision in late 1987 to split the operating divisions of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) into six separate airlines: Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, China Northern, China Southwest, and China Northwest. Since then, it acquired and merged with a number of domestic airlines, becoming one of China's "Big Three" airlines (alongside Air China and China Eastern Airlines). China Southern Cargo is the cargo subsidiary of China Southern Airlines.
China Southern Airlines was a member of SkyTeam from 15 November 2007 until 1 January 2019.
The airline started a frequent flyer program partnership with American Airlines in March 2019.
